ABOUT US

There is a sleepy little town in Northern Florida's Panhandle along the Gulf of Mexico called Sopchoppy. The town has the great fortune of being able to say that it surrounds itself with one of our country's most beautiful National Forests, the Apalachicola National Forest. Sopchoppy gives you this quaint old-fashioned feel of simpler days. There is the grocery store aptly named, "Sopchoppy Grocery". Then you have "Sopchoppy Pizza", a great pizza joint you might find in cities like Chicago with a casual & laid-back attitude, creating awesome food & serving up great local Florida brews fresh from the tap. By now you are probably beginning to see a pattern emerging in this town, rumored to mean "Dark Waters" for the tannin colored river that runs through it. Therefore we've decided to name our newest addition... "Sopchoppy River House". We invite you to read on & discover the reasons why you should plan your next getaway at our river house.

Situated along Florida's Nature Coast.... this area is a haven for the nature enthusiest. Offering 1000's of acres of preserved lands & peaceful forest. Surrounded by fresh water rivers & springs for days of kayaking & paddle board adventures. Near a 40 mile stretch of the "Capital City to the Sea Trail", along with miles of other biking trails. Within an hours drive, Apalachicola, an authentic fishing town, offering quirky shops and restaurants & local breweries. With the close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, one day you could be salt water fishing, fresh water the next. This area offers fresh gulf seafood available at nearby family run fish markets. Beautiful white sand beaches within 30 minutes drive. "Florida Big Bend Scenic Byway", an approximately 200mi. driving tour that can be broken up into several days. Hiking & driving trails like the "Great Florida Birding & Wildlife Trail" & an 80mi portion of the "Florida Trail" are also nearby. After a full day of adventures head back to the river house. Grill your catch or try one of the nearby local eateries. The lack of light polution in the area creates awesome star gazing... finish off your evening around the campfire before settling in for a great nights rest.
